Well, sorry for not posting sooner. It has been a whirlwind of busyness this past week or so! After successfully passing the online portion of my Hunters ED Safety Certification online course, I began to battle the scheduling problems for the Field Day portion of the certification. With many messages left and no stone left unturned I finally received conformation that I was registered in a Field Day event....YEAH! The urgency for getting this behind me was due to the November 15th wild Quail season opener here in Louisiana.
The Field Day course was very informative and fun. I had taken one in California about 17 years ago and it wasn't as in depth as Louisiana's. We actually went to the range and had to demonstrate our profisiancy with a 22 caliber rifle!!! WOW how times seem to have changed. Most did well, but there were still a few that probably should have practiced more before trying to quallify for there Certification!!!! All in all, it was time well spent.

Jasmine on Point
I decided I needed to post some pics on this blog for the awwwww factor! So what if this is a picture of Jasmine, the 1 yr old GSP, merely pointing at a squirrel in the backyard, it is all we have right now. Get over it, wildwing. Enjoy.

Misplaced Hunters Safety Certification
According to my wife, "I" misplaced my Hunters Safety Certification. This being said, it was given to her to place in her filing cabinet or so I thought. Needless to say, I am having to go through the certification procedure again. I know that you can call and get a copy of your old one, but I took mine before the scan tron age. Luckily, Louisiana has a free online version and a one day field outing you can do. I just completed the online portion, it was very informative and am waiting to hear back on the scheduling of the field day. With luck on my side, I should be back on track for this seasons quail opener on November 15th, 2008.

Who is Wildwing?
I am just your typical guy born in the wrong century! I love to hunt and be outdoors, most of the time I feel like a square peg trying to fit in a round hole. I'm not computer techie, but I'm an Electrical Engineer. I am owned currently by two German Shorthair Pointers (GSP's), wife permitting there could be a third in the near future (Hee Hee Hee)! My love for upland birds and bird dogs started at an early age, when I would roam the foot hills of Southern California. It wasn't for many years later that I would put the two together...this event took place at a hunting preserve located on the border of California and Nevada (Circle HH Hunting Preserve). I am very grateful to the owner, Fred Hymes, for introducing me to the wonderful world of upland bird hunting and gun dog training. I love watching the dogs work and taking in all of the scenery as I spent many an hour hunting in the high desert and now in the deep South. I will post an introduction to the dogs soon...thanks for visiting.
